I second bitterman on this and will go wherever we have decided.  It's only once a month where a bunch of us could get together do some fish chats and share experiences.

As a matter of fact, going to a different place once in a while may not be a bad idea and may bring more people to the meeting as we are not doing the same old same old.

It's really nice to see that someone gets it!!
I haz reef tanks.

Nerine

I agree with the place with a display tank!! it'd be nice to see some tanks!

how many places have them anyways??
55 Gallon: Zamora Woodcats, Gold Gourami, Severum, Convicts
Misc tanks: Glo Light Tetras, Harlequin Tetras, Danios, Platies, Guppies, Otto cats
Breeding: Platies, Guppies, Convicts

Fishnut

There's a restaurant called Pepper Garden on Montreal Rd. that has a pathetic african tank.  They don't have a separate room though.  It's been a number of years since I was there though.

lucius

I was at the new East Side Mario's in Orleans yesterday and they have a separate meeting room but it seemed small.  No fish tanks though.

What would kind of nice is to find a place that actually has a display tank! That would likely reduce the potential spots to Asian cuisine... (which is fine with me)

Hmm... where was that thread with all the display tank spots in Ottawa?

Display tank? well the ones I've seen is at Denny's on Merivale...the back of the restaurant is sort of private so potentially could reserve. would have to check...the food well, it's family friendly with some healthy choices. They have a marine tank.

There's a chinese place, like a buffet type, that has a fancy goldfish tank but can't remember where.

An unlikely place for a tank was at the Maytag appliance store on Huntclub/Merivale road. What a nice surprise and that one was nice! Even took a picture. I just had to tell you guys.

How many people?

Would someone like to do it at their house?

I still like Charlie's idea of a bar. Actually, a few years ago, after the meetings on Elgin we used to go out to a bar - Leiutenants Pump I believe (about 6-8 of us did, at least).

I could have it at my house, but then you would have to tip my wife for serving the beer. LOL
1 210g Asian Community planted fast water tank: balas, tiger & black ruby barbs, red-tail black shark, rainbows, loaches, SAEs, gold CAEs, 1500GPH river flow, plus 1500gph filtration.
1 75g African planted tank: 3 synos (had them since the 90s), yellow labs, kribensis.
1 40g breeder, silicone-divided into two - quarantine and nursery.

Denny's at South Keys also has a display tank.

...but it's still Dennys :(

I haven't joined yet, and when I do I'm not sure how many meetings I'll go to, but casual/social meetings are always better in my books :)

Also, beer.

Love the idea. I have way too little time for this hobby atm, and not having to bus 1hr each way would give me a chance to at least come out once in a while.

For the Kanata meetings, would any of the places in the Centrum work, maybe? It has ample parking, easy bus access and a fish store. ;o)
