Koralia sucks

No really.

Yesterday, my koralia powerhead switched direction, and killed my copperband butterfly in the process. Didn't see the poor guy was stuck to the powerhead until it was too late :(

What would cause a powerhead to do this? How is it possible for them to change direction?

With fronds like these, who needs anemones?

I bought a Koralia evolution 1250 and it does the same.If u unplug it and plug back it changes direction.

I have 2 Evolution 1050 and have not had any issues with them going in reverse...I have the Koralia smart wave with them; maybe other comptrollers are the issue?
I have read that the older models (1,2,3 etc...) have that problem though.

I bought a Koralia evolution 1050 a few weeks ago, and it does the same thing. Whenever it's unplugged/plugged back in it changes direction.... I have yet to install it in the tank. I read online people had the same problem and Koralia mailed them the parts needed to "fix"
I've yet to contact them myself

I have 3 older versions of the Koralia pump, and never had an issue. This makes me contemplate ever buying a Koralia product again

I had a similar issue with one of the k3's in my sons tank. I purchased them used but the person I purchased them from said they worked perfect... well he lied.... there was a small piece broken off the front that the impeller is to hit to push it back and make it spin the correct direction.

What I did to work about the problem was cut a small piece of hard airline (was trial and error to get the correct length) such that if the impeller moved out too far like it does when it spins the wrong way. It would kit this piece and then start turning the opposite way.

I've had this happen on 1050's and 1400's. Yes, Koralia will send you the part needed to fix the problem.  Once you install this part. It does fix it. I've done it. Never had the problem after putting the new part in.

I've also had this happen. Never on the older models, though.

The cause was a power outage. Even for a second. Ive,had mine on a timer and rarely did it ever go forwards. i was also told to contact hydor and they would send the part .... Never did tho ... Needless to say took them off the timer

This was considered a feature back in the day...   Random flow in your tank created by a few pumps and a few timers...  Cool

Feivel

Yeah i liked it and so seemed the corals. I had a few koralias on a timer with the lights. Big flow during the day and calm at night.well that was the idea untill i realised the koralias were going backwards and werent very effective at doing their job.

I had the issues with a few of the evolution model when they first came out.  I got the new parts from koralia and it solved the problem.  Its been a year since and the pumps are still going strong.

I had the same issue with my Koralia 1050 and 1400.  They are on a wavemaker and when they would turn on and off, they would go in reverse.  I sent an email and they sent me the replacement parts and so far so good.  It could take up to a month or more to get the parts.

The randomness of the flow, backwards and fowards was the desired feature actually.  Cycling on and off the pumps every hour made for very random results in your tank... at any given time some of them are flowing foward and some are backward... and 1hr later, it's all changed again...

IMHO, healthy fish don't get killed by pumps.  Sick, weak, and dead ones are another story.

both my 1050's and 750's all go backwards and it sucks...it will randomly do it. i didn't know they would send you a piece to fix it!

It doesn't help much when they aren't on a timer though.  :-X  Also when they run backwards they really don't seem to push much water, it's doesnt have much place to go

jon1985

thats another issue, even when mine ran backwards they never sucked fish in.  I have MP40s that dont suck fish in and they are WAY stronger then koralias
