The Starting point  http://ovas.ca/articles/Homemade%20African%20Cichlid%20Food%20Recipe.pdf

My DIY Freshwater Fish Food recipe
-1 lb (454g) Whole Shrimp
-1/16 lb Freeze dried mysis (Frozen or Freeze dried krill also works well)
-1/2 to 1 lb Frozen Green Peas
-2 handfuls of Frozen Broccoli
-6 - 8 tsp 100% Pure Spirulina Powder
-1 good size clove of GARLIC (you can add more but to much can result in a fowl smell)
-Kent Zoe vitamin/mineral supplement is no longer available so I used 3 multi-vitamins (if larger vitamins only use 1-2).
-2 Tsp Decapsulated brine shrimp eggs, re- hydrated

I did not use gelatin powder as krill/mysis, will stop the gelatin from setting up
I used had beta-carotene in them so that will help.

Salt Water Food Recipe
-1 lbs mixed seafood (Mussels, Octopus, Shrimp, Squid, etc)
-1-2 sheets Nori
-3 Tbs Freeze dried mysis (ground up then rehydrated)
-1 Tsp Spirulina Powder
-Rehydrated Decapsulated Brine shrimp eggs
-1 capfull Kent Marine Zoe
- (Optional but can be added easily)Cyclop-eeze, Daphnia, Plankton, Krill and Spirulina Enriched Brine Shrimp

In general these components help certain things
- Spirulina helps blacks and blues, some greens and also can booth the fish immune system
- Shellfish helps Yellows
- Astaxanthin helps reds
- Krill and mysis naturally contains Astaxanthin so good natural source but don't over use it too much can be hard on your fish. Also has all the omega and good fatty acids to promote fish health
-Garlic is a great thing.... it promotes health, some food for some parasites if food high in garlic. Additionally it promotes good health
-The peas and broccoli are full of a ton of vitamins

Remember this food is very rich and could pollute your tank if you over feed. Best to feed very small amounts. I use it as a supplement 2-3 days a week.

I will do my best to answer any questions
