If you have never been to an OVAS auction, here is a few General Information pointers.

General information

•   Viewing of items begins at 9:00 am; the auction starts at 11:00 am and finishes when everything has been auctioned.
•   If you are participating in the auction, please pickup a bidding number card.  This card is to be held up when bidding on an item.
•   All sales are in cash and sold as is.  It is your responsibility to inspect the item.
•   You must pay for your item immediately after it is purchased.
•   For a cost of $2 per item, payable before the auction starts, you can designate an item as a priority item.  Items on the priority tables will be auctioned first - all other tables will be auctioned in order.
•   Bidding is in $1 increments, bidding starts at the reserved price or at a minimum value of $2.
•   Raffle tickets are available from various volunteers.

Okay so as this will be my first time at an auction.....what exactly would make something recommended as a priority item? Sensitive live fish? Or can this be anything the seller wants to see go quickly, like hardware/tanks?

Priority items are items that someone paid $2.00 to move it up to the front ,to be auction asap.
This usually happens when you want something but it's too far away from being auction off. Some people
move it up early so hoping to get a better price before everyone get's into the biding mood. Some people move it up because they are leaving soon and really want that item.
All items start at $2.00 and go up until there's only one hand left standing (auction number) and this person
would win the item at the price the second last person put their hand down. Then you go pay for the item.
There will be lots of members around to help answer questions.  Unsold items are responsibly of the owner
to pick up their unsold items. (Unsold Items that no one bid at $2.00 for.)

Tip for those shopping (who isn't?) at the auction, it makes life a whole lot easier if you have small bills to pay for purchases, 5's and 10's.  So many of us hit the ATM on the way to the auction and the cashiers get only 20's, makes it harder to make change as the day goes on.
