I bought a canopy for my 75 salty at the auction.

I will be sanding it down (the inside), and would like to paint/finish it to help avoid rotting.

Is there a special paint or finish that I should be using?  I don't want to use anything that may harm my tank.

Thank you!

Is it wood inside?

I would paint it with a bright white paint so you don't get any light absorption.

I've used the Krylon Plastic paint on filter inlets that are inside the tank with no ill effect, so I don't see why the non-plastic version would cause concern.
I haz reef tanks.

Yep its wood inside!

Thanks for the quick response!
