I would like to get a tank mate for my 8 white cloud minnows. I do not want schooling fish since I have lots of those in other tanks.

Any peaceful community fish would do, preferably nothing big enough to eat 'em.

What size tank do you have, is it heated, and are there any other inhabitants besides the WCMM?

This species usually requires cooler water of 16 - 22 Deg C. So ensure you don't get fishes that need warmer temps and you're good.

For cooler waters, try a couple of Weather Loaches ( sometimes called Dojo Loaches )
In home aquariums, they rarely get bigger than 4 inches, some of mine have grown to 6 inches over *many* years.
They are quite entertaining, and are quite active when a storm ( low pressure system ) is coming ;)
