Yes that or more flow that keeps the tops of the corals clean and gets the sediment out from in between the polyp folds... especially

Not that some can self-clean e.g a lot of the plate corals, they inflate their top and get rid of it that way or inflate their bottom and hop along on the substrate to get rid of any sediment on the top.  Kind of a very interesting behavior to observe when you can catch it ...
