Hello all, please, any advice/tips for me regarding the type of hydrophilas I have?
I want to know what you would do if you were me. Plant arrangements..trim tips. I have cleaned up the bushy stuff as the stems were thin..so I took the better parts and planted them like usual. On the left the smaller leaf plant I usual pinch or cut the tops off a little to encourage better and even growth..it turns a little orange when it is doing better.

Currently my 2 angelfish isnt very active..they like to hang out together on the right side. They dont often swim around the tank..I guess I made it somewhat an obstacle for them. I usually plant the hydrophilia a few inched away from the front glass but it has grown against it. Its hard for fish to swim through the bushy ones at the bottom..its maybe plants too tight?

I hope this has interested some hobbiests. Im thinking that the lotus on the right needs to go. All I know is tall plants at the back. Any other info will be nice. If any questions please ask.

Cheers,

Stephanie

The stuff in the middle looks like "hygrophila polysperma", it's usually green but under certain light conditions (stronger light) it goes from green at the base to a more yellow-brownish on top. I would plant it at the back since it's one of the fastest growing stem plants.

I'm with Eric on the Polysperma, the other one looks like Corymbosa - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hygrophila_corymbosa.
If you want to stay with Hygrophilas, you may want to have a look at Hygrophila sp. 'Araguaia' for the foreground, I would also suggest  dwarf Sagittaria.

Thanks for sharing your tank

I don't know how much light you have on your tank, but hygro polysperma will have you pruning often, even in low light tanks.  I find Hygro rosanervig grows slightly slower, and in low light, has green leaves with white veins, and in higher light, turns pink and is very pretty.  Dwarf sag, you will not be trimming at all, I like it as a foreground plant in lower light tanks, but you have to keep it under control, since it propagates all sneaky-like via runners all over if you're not careful.

I like your tank layout, I'm not sure why your angels would not like it, as long as they have a big enough 'territory' to hang out in.

When I had co2 I had been pruning everything often. But dont have to now but going to get pressurized again. I like the driftwood the way it is but Im kinda thinking maybe I should move the huge rock cave from the left to the middle..Im almost too afraid to disturb it though..my rapheal cat and BN pleco are very happy the way it is..actually borrowed right under it. Definitely need to move the middle plant to the back..its going to be messy trying.

The dwarf sag looks nice as a suggestion to purchase but Im almost afraid it will cover too much sand. I will think about it though.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
