I bough a PH-8 Powerhead w/ UV5 AQUATOP Bundle Online

Good price too,  27.99$

Ok the shipping was 23.43$ and brokerage was 18.41$

Bulb lasted 18 days.    Now I have to order a bulb off the same website,   sure its only 13.99$    good price really,

But 22$ shipping and most likely 18$ brokerage fee again.

50$ every 2 weeks seems a little high.

I emailed the webpage and waiting for a reply,  Hopefully they do something about it.

Since its not a sponsor the name of the store is TruAqua.

Hope they help me out.

If anyone knows a place to get a replacement bulb for this in canada or locally  please let me know.

Bulb model: GPH150T5L    -  The IL5 and UV-5 bulb measures 5.75 inches and has a 4-pin base.

I think I would reconsider the need of such a thing. i.e. UV light  8)

No it was always running with the power-head,   I must admit I fell in love with the UV light ,  my water was green because of algae bloom and that fixed it all up in 3 days.

I know, I remember having read your other post about your green water problem.  I guess what I am saying is that there is maybe some other alternatives.  Your water paramaters, lightning conditions/duration.  You have a few tanks do they all suffer the same problem?

I have the aquatop 10w uv and I use it periodically when I run into green water that will not go away with a blackout and heavy water changes. It works great, not a necessity but really nice to have. http://www.marineandreef.com/AquaTop_5W_UV_Bulb_HO_T_5_Round_Base_4_Pin_Square_p/rat11103.htm

Not at all,  Only tank I had issues with was the 46G.  and that was fixed with the UV light,   Water is great,  everything at 0 for  a couple months now.  Just had a algae bloom with the gro flex T8's,  Now using CFL's X 2 for the 46G ( 26Watt each) 6500K , Will had a extra one soon.  changed to T8 6500K X 2 for the 50G ( 32W each)    Using 26W CFL's 6500K on my other aquariums.  Only issue I have is black hair algae, I'll reduce my light cycle to see if it goes away.

50G ( T8's 6500K)   64 Watts
10G's ( CFL 6500K) 26 watts
46G (CFL 6500K) 52 Watts total
10G fry tank (CFL 13Watts X 2 )   26 watt total

Planing on getting more lights soon.   Just a cheap alternative since I have so many tanks.

I recently bought 2 more 10G tanks lol

I will be building a stand to add to my existing ones but double Decker's ,   4 feet long   with 2 on one level and 2 on the other.

Well that site is in the US,  13.99 Is a great price,   But with shipping it comes up to $54.75$ and add maybe 25$ brokerage, its a expensive light.

I really need a local place and only pay 13.99$ or even 20$ I would buy one.

I wouldn't use UPS if I were you, they rip Canadians off with their brockerage fee racket. I learnt that one a while ago. Some American retailers are willing to ship with the postal service (USPS) and usually there's only HST to pay, sometimes customs doesn't charge anything. The other thing you can do is wait for the next OVAS group order, and order then. No brockerage fee, cheap shipping.

Maybe consider a "siesta" period during the day.  I do that.  With my cycle that starts at 6 o'clock, lights on 8 hours, off 4  hours (sieste),  on 4 hours then dodo time til next morning.
