ADA 60p Revival vers. 2018

This is what the tank looked like a couple of years ago:



And then it spiralled into lack of maintenance and I got hit with BGA that I couldn't get rid off. Frustrated, I tore down the tank earlier last year and the tank sat dry while other priorities in life took over. I made a promise to build it up again this past holiday season. I've been splurging on hardware in the meanwhile to get myself excited for a new build.

Thanks! I am open to suggestions but I want to try some that I have not tried before. Some Kubotai Rasboras or maybe a school of Lampeyes. Embers are an option again as well but a maybe for now.

3 Week Update:



Some good growth coming along. A little setback with some die-off from the Staurogyne Repens and Hygrophilia Pinnatifida - but that has happened before. Staurogyne should bounce back in no time, hoping the pinnatifida stops melting.

Still in search of Blyxia Japonica! Who'd have thought - I used to throw it out before. Karma! Haha. Anyways, happy generally with the growth.

Hardware wise, in-line heater came in but haven't had the time to set it up yet. Doser also in but boy is it a PITA to set up the wi-fi part of it! More updates soon when I get more time!

Those are Air Plants: https://www.hemleva.com/airplants/ - I thought they looked cool in a prehistoric dinosaur era plant way haha. They are epiphytes in the wild and do well perched like that, soaking in the evaporating water. A quick mist once in a while is good too but here they get light as well.

I hope you can get the hygrophilia pinnatifida going.  I've tried on three different occasions and they all melted away for some reason. 

I have one of those air plants as well but not near my fish tank.  Last time I saw them was at Rona before they turned into Lowe's.  They are neat.

Rah i suggest you revisit your co2 in relation to your light intensity, this may address your HP melting.

I hope you can get the hygrophilia pinnatifida going.  I've tried on three different occasions and they all melted away for some reason. 

I have one of those air plants as well but not near my fish tank.  Last time I saw them was at Rona before they turned into Lowe's.  They are neat.

If you're using the 1-2 tropica grow plants, the Hygrophilia Pinnatifida melting is most likely due to the fact that they are grown emersed, and need to shed the emersed growth before transitioning to submerged growth

not necessarily, you could also lower the intensity if possible .

I have and haven't, and there are many accounts of hobbyists experiencing the melt due to the emersed to submerged transition. Crypts will melt by just moving them from one spot to another, let alone from going emersed to submerged. You've just got a green thumb

I agree with the whole crypt melt syndrome, i have experienced it just moving it in the same tank, but did not experience it with the 1 2 grow pot.

Not sure about the green thumb  ,

They are cool, i like epiphytes like orchids.

The H. pinnatifida in the 1-2-Grow are in their submersed form. All of the in-vitro plants that are grown in the liquid grow in this format. That is one of the advantages to the liquid media over the gel. I tend to get melt with HP when they are under fertilized. Check that and hopefully that plant will do well.

Only the roots grow in gel. The rest of the plant is emersed.
