E. argentinenses emersed

I bought this echinodorus emersed and I would like it to stay this way as the leaves are supposed to grow out of the tank. Currently however, the plant is not high enough that the leaves are out of the water if I plant it.

I am afraid that if I plant it that it will only produce submersed leaves, thus defying my purpose. Is this fear justified? And if so, what do you suggest I'd do? Should I lower the water level and slowly bring it up with each new leaf? Or should I plant it in a pot with earth and only keep the feet in the water until the plant is big enough so it can go into the tank? Or......?

Either of your suggestions would work. But are you sure the new leaves won't be to your liking?

What I aim to do with the echinodorus is to let it grow out of my tank in the 2 back corners. I am afraid that once they start growing submersed, that the leaves will not become tall enough again to reverse that and get them above the water line.

Shouldn't be a problem. I've always had trouble keeping the leaves from growing out of the tank. Make sure you have a rich substrate at the roots or use a nitrate rich substrate fertilizer. If you have enough light, they'll do what you want.
