I bought a 4' light from Ray.It has 2 tubes and 2 250w halides. The question is.Does anyone know if i can put a 3rd halide on this light? The ballast has a cable for the tubes and another for the halides. There are 4 wires that are twisted together for the halides.I think it can handle another. There are no markings or stickers of any sort to see what  kind of ballst it is.Would anoyone have seen this before at Ryas?It was upstairs on his 55 gal tank.I have tried to get a hold of him but he must be busy or not online.

Thanks

If this is the one I just returned to you... I would say no.

I don't know of any ballasts that are designed to drive 3 MH bulbs.  The largest I have seen are dual ballasts.

jimskoi

Yes it is.I need to put one more in the centre of the tank.I guess i will have to buy another.Ye ha!

Thanks for the info.

Yeah, the rule of thumb with metal halides is one for every two feet.

jimskoi

Do they make a ballast that will handle 3?

DARKPHREAK

Nope but they are pretty cheap about 150$ for a single bulb pfo.
