Hi, my tank is quite populated with snails and they are eating all my plants. I want to try the lettuce thing to get rid of them. How long do you have to boil/scald the lettuce or do you just put the leaf in the tank?

P.S. also managed to get my platies to breed and I now have eight little guys/gals roaming around my tank.

Another way to get rid of snails is to get either loaches or tiger barbs. The barbs will eat the smaller ones only.

Otherwise, I have hungry loaches and tiger barbs, so if i could get as many of your snails from you as possible my own fish would appreciate the snack.

Sure, if I can get them on the darn lettuce like they say it does then I'll just bag them up with some water and cart them in on my way to work and they I'll give them to you. Do you have any idea how long I'm supposed to scalde the lettuce though?

Motoman, about 30 seconds in boiling water should do it. Run cold water over the lettuce before adding it to the tank.
