We fed them seaweed, one of them was stuffing the whole piece in his mouth (or Aristotle's Lantern to get technical)
If you want one, move fast, as of last night there were two left.

But if you had a good calcium reactor and decent light, wouldn't you be able to produce more coraline algae then the urchin could consume?

Newbie SW question, I know

True, all those factors will provide enough coraline but still you'll see patches where they've eaten from. The thing that bugged me when I had them was that they would always knock over the corals or break pieces off. And when "playing" inside of the tank I'd have to make sure to know where the urchin was, a few stings and I learned to look first.

Any interesting corydoras come in on the South American shipment?

Thanks

Woody

PaleoFishGirl

What is a lacortei loach? I can't find any info on it.

mseguin

The SA shipment got delayed till next week, there wer egoing to be  few changes, but should be at least: C. arcuatus, jullii, metae, and a few others.
Sorry, got the name wrong, its Botia lecontei, yellow tail loach, in my defence its been a long week.
Also, new marine shipment today, assorted, damsels, angels, butterflies, gobies, etc

i'd love to start a tropheus colony.... sigh... I had a question for you though Mseguin, I was curious if you carried congos often and are they adult or juvies normally? The reason is i'm trying to stock a 90 g congo biotope and the polypterus have taken down 2 of my juvie congos so i held off on buying more in hopes of finding some larger adults

and also do you often have spotted climbing perch or Ctenopoma acustirostre in?  smaller the better so my congos arent lunch until they grow out a bit and if so i was also wondering what you feed them (i'm hoping they would be taking frozen from you guys as i'm not a feeder fan for many reasons)

Thanks in advance and sorry for the flurry of questions

mseguin

We have some albino congos right now that are a decent size, the regular congos are small (they're pretty expensive to get large).
We've had Ctenopoma in the past, I forget what species but it wasn't the spotted. We don't get them frequently, but maybe next time we get a wild African order. Try talking to Jody.

New arrivals:
Lots of platies, mollies, and swords, tetras, gouramis, angels, green spooted and dwarf puffers: Borneo suckers (seems to be at least a couple species)

PaleoFishGirl
