Hi all,

I just purchased and setup a tank and it's a bit off level. I was wondering about tolerences and if I'm ok. The tank is on a proper stand--purchased with the tank--but the floor leans to one side. The tank is farily level front to back. I would say there is about one to two milimetres diffence between the front and back on one side.

I understand it's ok if the tank is leaning..as long as it's not twisted. Well, again, I think it might be off on one corner by 1 or 2 ml...the floor has play when I fill then tank. Should I worry? What tolerences are there on the tanks...if any.

I had a similar problem with a smaller tank, but for some reason with 90 gallons of water I'm more nervous about things.

Any help greatly appreciated.

One lower corner means it is twisted.
Can you shim the stand?

tanner778

How would I shim it? Could I just use a cedar shim and hammer it under the stand. I'd hate to have to empty the tank again.

DARKPHREAK

One to two milimetres is not enough to worry about.

1-2mm is fine.

You can use a cedar shim if you wish; but if the tank is full you ain't gonna get it to move :)

1/2" Styrofoam under a tank is a good practice, but it won't correct "level" issues...it absorbs unevenness in the top of the stand only.
