HI Everyone,

I would like to know your opinion and recommendation on an automatic fish feeder...  We are off on holidays in the summer and would like to keep my fish happy while we are away :-)  Thanks a bunch...

I have an Eheim programmable feeder that I picked up
at BA. It costed about $80.  It's a typical German design,
simple and good engineering sense. It is equipped
with a small fan which is turned on from within
the food chamber when food is
being despensed. This is to keep the moisture from
entering the chamber. I like it.

Yeah, I've heard of this one before Sam but haven't actually seen one myself...  Perhaps I should look further...  Thanks...

I too have the Eheim

Great for growing out fish, as you can dispense smaller portions more evenly throughout the day (4 settings per day).  My juvie discus get 6 meals a day... I manually feed in the morning... the feeder does 4 over the course of the day... and then I feed again in the evening.

Great product, you can set the feeding portions fairly well, and even if the largest portion isn't enough, you can set it to do a double portion.

I used the simpliest feeder in the office. It feeds 2 times per day, does not have the fan.
I put it onto the tank more than month ago. It did the job for more than 3 weeks that I was not in the office and two weeks after .
But! This is a small tank without lots of fish (5 apistos, neons, some guppies). As I said I didn't have any problems yet, but if you have lots of expensive fish I would select Eheim...
