Yes.. you can drive two bulbs in series with an electronic ballast

I.e. 2 2 foot bulbs could be driven by a ballast designed to run a single 4 foot tube.

thanks BD, an expert opinion is all i needed, time to go bulb shopping!

Note that you can NOT generally do this with a non-electronic ballast (tar).  I've tried :)

Just for future.
You may go to the Fulham site and get your wiring diagram. Just provide lamp type (T5 Linear HO) and wattage (4xF24 HO):
http://www.fulham.com/Find_Process.php
So, in your case you can use WH5 (see attachement)

i doubt that would work, my wh5 has 2 outs of 50-55watts, lamps are 20-25watts each! this is what i am planning!

this is in parallel, which means if 1 bulb go out, the other bulb its sharing the power with will go bad, where in series if 1 goes bad, the other will shut off!
not sure if that makes any sence or not!

Well, that's how Fulham says you should wire 4 T8 F25 to a Workhorse 5.

This is strange. I have WH5 and it has 5 wires: 1GRN and 4 "Signal"
Now, if you will wire as you draw, than you will have 2 lamps in series and if any of them will be broken the other one will go off-line.
In Fulham drawing all of them are in parrallel, so if any of the lamps shutted down/broken the others will still be operative. I tried :)

The "usual" setup is to run the bulbs in series (i.e. 2 2 foot tubes in series to imitate a 4 foot tube).  Fulham is obviously able to deliver power to the bulbs in parallel (better, as a single burnt out tube doesn't affect the others).
