I wonder how long it will take for us to get a real, PHP or SQL something based chatroom, like this, http://www.tufat.com/script2.htm  that most of the other forums I have visited in the past have, and work flawlessly?  and are not crappy antiquated IRC schlock?

yeah you do.  Next year the homeshow will be taped with Betamax and will be viewed on a reel to reel tape in the parking lot (LOL kind of like last month)  I am a huge fan of the PHP etc chatroom software. its slicker than snot on your sleeve.  I HIGHLY recommend we try it out, we will probably have wayyyy more people in the chatroom.   some people can't use IRC at work (hi PFG)

LOL yeah... but I can't use *anything* at work unless someone doesn't show up and I sneak onto a real computer.

There is a reason we're using an IRC based platform at the moment.  I'll re-investigate the matter but the main reason is the IRC based platform doesn't affect our bandwidth use. 

However, it IS started to peeve me off that I have to personally log into the chatroom once every couple weeks or it "disappears"...

IRC is fine, its just that that irc server seriously SUCKS.  They're way over-cautious about bots and such, and they make it really annoying to register and keep nicks and chans for any period of time.  14 days is WAY too short. To top it all off, their ircd is extremely flaky, and I get disconnected constantly, as does everyone else.

You should look at dal.net or another one of the larger irc servers for our chat.

Dalnet is not a good idea, too much BS on that network. We should just create our own, it's very easy to setup and maintain.

i personally think having a chat is a good idea due to some people needing information right away and being able to talk to someone first hand might be the only chance the fish or pet might have. I dont use it that often mostly due to it not being able to log on at work. At home i visit it once in a while. I like the feature! My hats are off to Ovas.
