LARRY JOHNSON • SWIMMING WITH CICHLIDS IN MALAWI
Larry was introduced to Lake Malawi in the early 70’s and has been keeping and breeding cichlids since then. His fish room has grown over the years to include 100 tanks.
Cichlid News Magazine published an article of Larry’s on the genus Mylochromis. He also discovered interesting feeding behaviour in Sciaenaochromis fryeri and was the first to photograph a new species of Lethrinops sp.”mbenji roundhead” and Otopharynx speciosus at Nkhomo Reef.
Larry is also an active conservationist and has helped install anti-netting devices around the Maleri Islands and conducted a Cichlid Survey in conjunction with the Stuart M Grant Conservation Fund.
Larry goes on an annual diving safari to Lake Malawi in Tanzania every year. This year will be his 18th trip! This month Larry will be sharing with OVAS a presentation about swimming with cichlids!
