A fish-friendly reminder from the Ottawa Valley Aquarium Society…

Time to tackle the 2024-2025 OVAS season!  Monday’s presentations will look at growing terrestrial plants using aquarium-based systems!

 

Presentations

Our Program Chair, Natalia Ospina will introduce us to terrestrial houseplants that can be grown out of the aquarium. This concept can be applied when aquascaping beyond the borders of the aquarium glass and in building paludariums, and it has tremendous benefits. Natalia has been in the aquarium hobby since 8 years old!

Our Membership Chair, Liam Epp will introduce us to aquaponics systems that combine aquaculture and hydroponics, which allow you to grow edible plants using the waste from aquarium fish. Liam’s background in wetland biology and aquarium maintenance continues to inspire his fish-keeping practices.

There will be some prizes!
Members are encouraged to set up vendor tables, so bring some cash if looking to shop.
OVAS will have fish bags available for purchase: 25 for $3 / 50 for $5.

OVAS memberships can be renewed for the 2024-2025 season at monthly meetings or online (PayPal). Current memberships will expire on September 30, 2024.

This is a FREE event sponsored by the Ottawa Valley Aquarium Society. Anyone with an interest in aquariums and related hobbies is welcome to attend. OVAS presentations are a great place to meet other aquarium hobbyists, exchange ideas and learn more about fish and aquatic plant keeping.
