Part 1: CARES – Haplochromine Cichlids of Lake Victoria – by Greg Steeves

Lake Victoria is one of the great lakes of the world. The endemic fauna is a model in evolutionary science as over 500 species have differentiated to occupy every niche available within this large basin in a geographical eye blink. The beautiful haplochromine cichlids face a host of stressors in their native waters. Happily however, these fish make ideal aquarium residents. Many species have already disappeared in Lake Victoria due to man’s interference and many more are critically in peril.

Part 2: Setting up and Running a Breeder’s Fishroom – by Jody McManus

Running a fishroom is a big undertaking, some tips and info that I have found useful. It is an ever evolving room, which can bring it’s own challenges.

Admission is always free at OVAS Presentations. Anyone interested in the aquarium hobby is welcome to attend. OVAS presentations are a great way to meet other hobbyists, share ideas, ask questions, and learn. Members are free to bring fish, plants, or aquarium accessories for sale or trade before and after the presentation.
