Upcoming ovas.ca forum changes - classifieds

At the February Exec meeting it was decided that we would take a poll of OVAS Members in regards to the changes that were implemented last year in the classifieds - specifically that the For Sale board would be reserved for OVAS Members only.

The question was asked if the For Sale board should be reopened to all forum members.  After 14 days of voting, nearly 70% of the members who replied favoured opening up the For Sale board.  The Exec will take a formal vote on this at the next Executive meeting in March.

To help alleviate some of the issues that surrounded the For Sale board in the past, some technical changes will be put into place before the board is open to all forum users.

The proposed change include (but are not limited) to the following:

All members will be limited to a maximum of 3 new ads / bumps per day.  In other words, group your items, don't flood the board.
For OVAS Members there will be a strictly enforced 72 hour period before you can bump a post.
For non-OVAS Members posts will not be able to be bumped.
Any prematurely bumped posts will be deleted.
Any changes to an ad before the 72 hour period must be done by editing the post. 
Information added as another post in the same thread will be considered a bump and treated as such.
The deletion of an ad and then reposting the ad (however modified) will count as bumping.
There will be some type of confirmation/information screen presented before you post an ad to show the rules – ignorance of the rules is not a defense.
Non-OVAS members will be encouraged to make a PayPal donation of $1 or 2% for each sale they make through our forum.

The bumping rules and posting limits have been put forth to allow the new ads to remain on the front page of the For Sale board for the longest period possible.  Depending on how fast ads move from the front page this may be modified at a later date.

This sounds good but may I suggest that for the final item in the rules regarding a donation be a suggestion for items over a certain min. value? Either way sounds like a positive move. OVAS has made some great changes in the past 6 months.

At the Monday meeting of the Exec the vote to reopen the For Sale board was passed. 

This will be done once the necessary changes are made to the forum software to better monitor the placing and bumping of ads.  There is no formal timeframe for this but I hope to have this done within the next couple of weeks.
