Hey folks.

I am wondering if anybody has experience with a Fluval Edge 6 g. If so, would it be a bad thing to put the lights from a Fluval Edge 12 g? Will it be too strong or just change the lighting from low to medium? Will I need a co2 set up? I hope not.

Currently I have dwarf sag (melted to nothing, but I was hoping for something that would spread on the bottom of my tank), a java fern, and a crypt. I would like to add more plants but I don't know what to get.

Thanks for reading.

I changed my lights from the stock mr-11's that my version came with to the LED's from the 12g. You can grow just about anything under them...including algae.  I never ran co2 on mine, but I assume if you did, growth would be great right under the lights.

For what it's worth I'd look into the Ecoxotic EcoPico LED strips instead, they'd be easy to mount and you can get them in a few different colors at Marinescape. It would probably work out to the same price as the Fluval 12g LED if you went with the EcoPico strips with a power adapter and splitter to hook up multiple strips.

Here's my thread on my Edge when it was up and running.

First of all, thanks for the quick response Stuart and thank you for the link.

Unfortunately for the lights, I have already ordered them and was just really thinking about them and if they were a good or bad thing.  It's good news I can grow pretty much anything under them. Hope the java fern and crypt dont' die.   For algae I'm assuming if I get more plants that will take care of some of it.

I suppose it's all a learning experience. I was just wondering if I messed up on my purchase.

Thank you very much again.

More plant and short light hours if not get a good clean up crew. Things should be fine. Plant will melt when first introduce to a new tank. Crypt are know to do that. Just leave it alone and wait. Good luck with the tank :)
