Backyard Ponds & Water Gardens




This presentation will look at the construction and installation of a water garden or pond for the residential back yard. It will cover location, excavation, materials equipment, and installation. The presentation will also look at plants and how to create a natural balance along with fish and commissioning of the feature. Finally, annual maintenance including spring preparation and fall/winter close down will be reviewed.

Based in the Ottawa valley, Richard Inchley Ponds and Aquaria is ideally located to supply the Ottawa region with water garden and landscape services. Originally from the UK, Richard studied fish farming, leading to a successful 25-year career in the water garden and landscape industry. Richard has also been a keen pond and aquarium hobbyist for over 35 years.
